Wayland is becoming the default with next Plasma 6, and it's already with GNOME. On Plasma 5.27.5 with Wayland, the app is totally broken and not usable at all.

I was sad to find that wayland is not supported with 0.4.4-3 found in the new Debian bookworm

My understanding is wayland is here to stay and will be the default soon.
