On MacOS Sonoma, status bar stays on top of video while playing

On Sonoma 14.1.2 at least, the progress bar seems oddly formatted and also never goes away. There doesn't seem to be an option to turn it off in the settings either. Any ideas?

It also scales oddly when the window I resize the window:
