Question

Does this mod detect new wood types automaticly or does the specific mod which ads the wood type need to be supported? Does this mod also add missing blocks of a wood type if it, for example, doesn't have signs or boats?

Optional: Details

I can't figure out how to make signs and boats, so that's the reason for this question. On the curseforge page I saw something about an API, but I have only just started modding and have no idea where to find the template or how it works. Also don't know if said API is for new blocks types or for new wood sets.

It works automatically, so long it's a valid wood with sensible naming schemes (so many are supported). Needs a log and a plank with wood properties

Api is also there and is for both

It doesn't seem to work, so either: wood good does not add vanilla block types, if those are missing; or my naming schemes aren't sensible.
So, still two question:

Does this mod add vanilla 'block' types, like the sign or the boat, if those are missing?

What counts as a sensible naming scheme?

My naming scheme is black_cherry_(blocktype) or stripped_black_cherry_(blocktype)

Yeah it won't ever add vanilla stuff. That's the job of a mod that adds those wood types

That's intentional
