What's the right way of updating the script?

That's it, please help me with this simple question, what's the right way of updating the script every time there's a new change to it?, i've been doing it just downloading the new code, but i wanna know if there's other way or if i'm missing something because i remember the first time i installed it was using git following the steps given.
