I have a lot of albums where there's some short tracks (e.g. bridges, sounds and talk between longer tracks).
I generally like to have crossfade on, but when it happens during such short tracks (e.g. 20 seconds or less) it doesn't really sound good as those tracks are not really meant to be crossfaded and intended to act as a bridge on their own.
It would be great if MPD allowed to set a minimal length for either of crossfading tracks (current or next) in seconds so that if one (or both) of crossfading tracks are shorter than specified threshold - they just don't crossfade.
To workaround this, I've ended up making a MPD client that checks lengths of adjacent tracks on song switch and either disables crossfade, or turns it back on. But it would be great to have such functionality built-in as an option in mpd.conf
