information on filesystems

There should be information on filesystems, in particular use of lustre, which ought to be possible with a pointer to something external. (I've just had to explain about the possible effect of the 1MB default stripe size.) It should be possible to give some advice about which major applications benefit from changing the striping, and how.

Other relevant information is what the local storage is (SAS?) which may be relevant for some things, the locking situation on lutre and nfs, and advice about running database-like things.
