Hi Rich, I think this was done because much of the ADF currently expects time series files (which are usually per variable), and so it is relatively easy to then take those time series and generate single-variable climo files. Of course if folks prefer having multi-variable climo files (at least as an option) then that can certainly be done. That being said, it probably also wouldn't be that much work to just convert people's scripts to expect single variable files instead of multi-variable files. Maybe this would be worth discussing either here or in one of the upcoming ADF meetings? |

So I noticed that the climo files output by the ADF are per variable? This is different from the all variables into one seasonal file. Just wondering why that was done, as of course people will have scripts that work off of the original all-in files. Sorry if I have missed a switch somewhere that will enable one to do this!
