How to ask a question or open a Discussion in HRLDAS Forum

All questions or discussions about HRLDAS should be done on this "Discussions" tab on GitHub. Please use: https://github.com/NCAR/hrldas/discussions

1. please use the box on the upper left to "Search all discussions" to see if your question has already been answered or not.

2. If you don't find an answer to your question, you can click on the green "New discussion" box on the upper right.

3. Before opening a discussion (i.e., clicking the green "New discussion" box), please go to the best category most relevant to your question on the left column:

4. Most questions should use the "Q & A" category, so the community can track when the question is "Answered".

5. The general guideline for using "Discussions", "Issues", and "Pull Requests" is:

(1) If you have a problem or want to know how to do something?

-------> First, search Discussions. If your answer is not found - Open up a Discussion

When opening up a Discussion, especially related to debugging questions, please include:

1. your working machine environment;
2. compiler version;
3. HRLDAS/Noah-MP version;
4. domain setup and namelist, etc.
5. Tag your discussion with a label on the right hand bar.

The more information you can provide, the better we can understand the question and help you with it

(2) If after discussions in this forum, it's been determined that something is not right in the code, and should be fixed:
-------> Open up an Issue

(3) If you have a fix for an issue:
-------> Open up a Pull Request

6. HRLDAS users should first search/start a "Discussion" before attempting to list an "Issue" or submit a "Pull Request".
