Which compset(s) do we use currently? I found this in one of the 'old scripts: '2000_DATM%1PTGSWP3_CLM50%FATES_SICE_SOCN_MOSART_SGLC_SWAV'
but I don't understand where it is specified in make_cases.py. There is something about 'compset_str', but I can't find it anywhere else in the repo.

Good that you bring this up! You are correct, this is the only compset that one can currently use and it is hard-coded here:
https://github.com/NorESMhub/NorESM_LandSites_Platform/blob/platform_dev/landsites_tools/utils/interface_settings.py#L272

the function is a placeholder for implementing more sophisticated solutions.

Regarding our testing starting yesterday,
I tried changing the compset from FATES to BGC and ran ALP1 case. All else default. There were no errors making or running the case, but no output files were created for some reason...

Tried again now with ALP4, after deleting docker image etc to get a fresh start.

Now it failed building, which makes more sense. I think yesterday I didn't clean up the volumes and everything in Docker desktop, I just used docker container prune.

Line 323 is where make_cases runs ./case.setup ; ./case.build

In the meeting yesterday we agreed to focus on FATES compsets only, and then have e.g. FATES-SP and big-leaf-vegetation CLM on the horizon. Rather focus on possibility to modify CO2 and simulation period (historic, more up to date modern, etc).
