I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my bug.

8.2.1.38 (flatpak)
Expected Behavior
Entering ^p^p should find double paragraph marks.
Actual Behavior
Nothing. Any text in the search field that begins with ^p is ignored.
Reproduction Steps
In order to remove repeated paragraph marks often found in text documents...
Open Find/Replace window. In 'Find' type ^p^p. In 'Replace with' type ^p.
Display shows 'No matches'
