The yoast seo plugin provides page metadata for machines on every osgeo page, the plugin is quite generic, causing generic metadata for resources which could benefit from more detail.

Some examples:

  • the project pages are advertised in schema.org as 'website', where we could also advertise them as schema.org/Software or schema.org/Project
  • the metadata of project member pages do not indicate that the page contains the members related to a project

I also noticed that in the osgeo website the article publisher is set to a facebook url, does it make sense?
I'd expect a url like https://osgeo.org

I'm not familiar with the yoast plugin, maybe some of these things are hard to achieve, others may be easy wins, thanx for considering

Optimizing this may optimize SEO, but also remote engines fetching information about osgeo projects would be helped out

I checked but I don't have enough "power" to see all Yoast SEO settings.
Likely @robe2 can?

@cvvergara @jodygarnett Any thoughts on this. @neteler sorry for not responding so long, I don't pay attention to my github notifications much. So perhaps this isn't even an issue anymore.
