I've tried to get this stack running on my system and couple two webcams with the Oculus Rift. Technically, it works. But I've got an issue that I'd like to discuss and I'd like to make a suggestion for further development.
My cams and the Rift differ regarding their FOV. The cameras have a FOV of 60 degrees whereas the Rift, as you know, has a FOV of 110 degrees. This - apparently - results in wrongly distorted images for the left and right eye.
I'd suggest to take this FOV difference into account by either simply adding a black border around the source image or, which is a little more complex, by distorting the image according to this FOV difference beforehand respectively in the same steps when it is distorted for the Rift.
Please correct me if my considerations are wrong.
