Since ggplot2 3.5.0 the minor ticks system underwent a breaking change: https://www.tidyverse.org/blog/2024/02/ggplot2-3-5-0-axes/#minor-ticks

Should we try to account for the ticks before 3.5, after 3.5 or all versions of ggplot2 ?
