Description of the issue

We currently have hydroelectric energy transformation 1 and marine-specific subclasses. However, we currently do not have a subclass for the "conventional" hydroelectric energy transformation, i.e. hydroelectric energy transformation on a river or using reservoirs.

Ideas of solution

If you already have ideas for the solution describe them here

Workflow checklist

  • I discussed the issue with someone else than me before working on a solution
  • I already read the latest version of the workflow for this repository
  • The goal of this ontology is clear to me

I am aware that

  • every entry in the ontology should have a definition
  • classes should arise from concepts rather than from words

Footnotes

  1. Hydroelectric energy transformation is a hydro energy transformation that converts hydro energy to electrical energy.

We have run of river power plant1 http://openenergy-platform.org/ontology/oeo/OEO_00010087 though.

Footnotes

  1. A run of river power plant is a hydro power plant that uses the momentarily available hydro energy of a river. It has either no reservoir or just has a small one with a maximum of 24 hours of storage.

Yes, that is right. We have the subclasses for the power plants:

But neither for the power units nor the transformation processes:

My feeling is, that the recently redefinition of technology will help here sorting out the hydro-classes. However, it needs a bit time, thus I move the milestone.

I wonder whether we need the different processes at all? Isn't the process always the same: movement of water is converted to electrical energy. So why not shift the difference between these to the technologies?
