Modify the deploy script in this repo to make a change to /etc/hosts. Then remove the DNS entry for local.permanent.org that points to localhost.

Pinging on the status of this issue as it seems stale -- I think we should either confirm this is a bug (and make the fix) or close it.

depends on your definition of a bug :)

If you think having a DNS entry on your domain to point to localhost is a bug, then yeah, stop doing that and just modify the hosts file.

There are also some security issues associated with this: https://serverfault.com/questions/120769/localhost-in-a-dns-zone

The XSS vector is something I'd never thought of, but it is something of concern: having a localhost entry in your public DNS means any hacked machine could be "in your domain" (by running a webserver on 127.0.0.1) and potentially do all sorts of nasty things. Probably a good enough reason to get rid of the entry.
