For the launch of PostHog 3000, show all the new features, changes, and demo notebooks.

I'll plan to walkthrough and film it myself, asking Sam about editing.

Open to have other people explain "why" as part of it. This is optional though.

  • Why redesign? What were are inspirations?
  • Why notebooks?

Cover base 3000 features. Probably needs to be done November 20 so it can be edited and ready for November 27 (or later launch).

Outline

  • Part 1: PostHog redesign:
    • Dark mode
    • New top bar nav
      • Easier to understand where you are
    • Something things have moved around to clear up the sidebar nav
      • Cohorts are now in persons
      • Annotations are now in data management
      • Some others have moved around
    • Right side panel
      • We’ve also added a right panel that includes
        • Notebooks (which we cover next)
        • Feedback
        • Docs
          • You can view all of the relevant docs without leaving the app
          • You can follow a tutorial without leaving the app
        • Quickstart settings
    • Use cmd + k to universal search
      • Jump easily to the sections, insights, flags, dashboards, and much more.
    • Right side panel
  • Part 2: Notebooks
    • Notebooks enable you to combine all the pieces of PostHog
    • Great for analysis like bug investigations, launches, or roadmap research
    • They can be opened on the sidebar, this is the scratchpad
    • From here, you can add stuff by
      • plus symbol
      • slash commands
      • drag and drop
    • Each element works similar to them standalone, with slightly more minimal feature set
      • You can still edit the standalone insights
    • Finally, you can save and share notebooks
  • You can expect to see more features soon, let us know what feedback you have and what you’d like to see next

A couple of considerations:

  • When will this launch be locked in terms of features + design? Hard to do vid before that?
  • How long do you expect / are you aiming for this to be?

Is this shaping up OK, @ivanagas? Just want to check in so I know if we can have it in the announcement post.

  1. Here is uploaded notebooks video: https://youtu.be/B73WnVRi0ko
  2. The full PostHog 3000 video should just be the updated demo video which is covered here: [Epic] Product demo videos #6924
