rewrite/update all module tests #48

all tests need updating and restructuring. new ones need to be written. bonus points for implemeting automated module checking.

This has been started already.
Automated module checking has been implemented minimally (due to restrictions on run time using GitHub Actions CI) and several tests were re-vamped in 8c05a1d

@achubaty, automated module checking is currently failling with this error:
Error: Failed to get R 4.1.0: Failed to get R 4.1.0: Failed to install R: Error: The process '/usr/bin/sudo' failed with exit code 100

Do you know how to solve this?
