It seems like there are likely to be new niche features that people would like which don't need keyboard shortcuts but are useful to have. It might help to have the possibility of long commands (for example, issue #358 would be :refresh-stations, following vim syntax). These would still be easy for scripts to call but wouldn't add to the number of keyboard shortcuts.

There’s just one problem: Right now input commands are exactly one
1-byte character. Changing that would require rewriting the input
system which won’t happen anytime soon (unless you write the code and
convince me of its awesome-ness).
