Cross-compilation for Mac

Hi, I'm trying to setup a Gitlab CI pipeline by following this example.

The compilation for linux targets (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu and aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu) succeeds, but it fails for macos. Does anybody have an idea?

Here are the steps in my local environment:

docker run --rm -v $(pwd):/io -it --entrypoint /bin/bash ghcr.io/pyo3/maturin

uv pip install --system ziglang

export TARGET=x86_64-apple-darwin

rustup target add $TARGET

maturin build --interpreter 3.12 --release --target $TARGET --zig

and it fails with the same error as Gitlab CI:

EDIT: From this issue I get for this to work one fundamentally needs the MacOS SDK somewhere. The process to set this up locally seems to be quite intricate, but is described in the linked post.
