The Machines.md and machines/.md machine-specific docs should all have lists of currently installed software. this should be a hackable problem..

Any status update on this? I'm currently installing some R packages on the of the machines, would be great if I could register this somewhere

Thanks for the prod! Probably after the science festival now, unless anyone has a cunning way to list packages/software?

Listing the path + Rpackages would be a useful start but a bit verbose... anyone want to have a go? ;)

@pwkooij @Mike-Chester the Biolinux software list newest build (sept 2015) is here http://environmentalomics.org/bio-linux-software-list/

do we know which builds are on which machines?

for instance, Senecio doesn't appear to have /usr/bin/beam2 or /usr/bin/ampliconnoise, both of which are listed in the link above, which suggests a slightly older build..?

@lonelyjoeparker @Mike-Chester I had a quick look at Boletus, and /usr/bin/ampliconnoise indeed is not present, but beam2 is present as /usr/bin/BEAM2.

I quickly checked the version we have installed on Boletus using cat /etc/bio-linux.version which gave me 8.0.7, however, I don't know what version is currently available. Might be worth checking the other machines as well
