Support for Open Telemetry

We use rxjs extensively on the backend (perfect for dealing with data streams). What would be the best option to add auto instrumentation? As often we see context being lost, which can be addressed by verbose manual setup. Was just wondering if there is an established pattern? Ideally we would want to create individual spans for each step / operator.
