RR intervals are considered only if they differ from the preceding or following interval by less than 75 % (as suggested in http://www.zhb.uni-luebeck.de/epubs/ediss1118.pdf, 2.4.2.1). All RR intervals not fulfilling this condition are labeled as anomalies and removed for further statistics. Such intervals can be caused by connection issues with the heart rate strap, extrasystoles or cardiac diseases.
