Upload is slowly, why not using zip?

When commit comes the upload has everything or only difference? We can make a zip file from repo and upload finally extract the file. Is it sound good ?

the speed of the first upload is really slow. 2 hours or more is this normal?

If there are many folders and files, yes. FTP is incredibly slow when dealing with lots of small files.
