onHover in ListView control column

I have a list that one of the columns can contain multiline text. it only shows what fits in the column width.
I want to allow the users to hover over it and see a balloon 🎈 with all the text with the line breaks
Have anyone tried to show more text. Maybe in a "callout"
Would it be done in the render function of the IViewField type?
Anyone have an example?
