Male NPCs don't attack Melee #749

Hello, i am having a strange problem with my Skyrim LE game:

For some reason, all male NPCs don't attack me melee (with swords, axes or other close combat weapons). They just take out their weapons and walk around me talking menacingly, but never attack......

Males do attack me with bows, crossbows or magic (distance combat weapons) and females attack me both ways as usual. But males don't attack me melee.

Searching a bit, i found that apparently this might be an issue caused by Nemesis. I found 3 posts about this on this Github but apparently none of then got a propper fix

https://github.com/ShikyoKira/Project-New-Reign---Nemesis-Main/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+melee+attack

Does anyone know how to fix this please? :(

PD: I have mods installed but none of the ones mentioned in those posts. Besides i have them sorted with LOOT and cleaned with TES5Edit.

Do you have XPMSE installed?

So, the reason male enemies don't attack you is because the current version of Nemesis have a problem with generated files if you use XPMSE. Solution? Don't use XPMSE.

Oh i see, thanks for the info!. I hope that problem can be fixed in the future by Nemesis's devs.

Another question. I already have my saved game with many hours invested and among the mods i have active, XPMSE is one of them. Is it safe to deactivate it midgame? (i used Mod Organizer 2).

According to mod description, it's safe as long as you follow uninstallation guide.

I finally found a fix and without uninstalling XPMSE!. Someone (external from Nemesis's team as sadly they don't help to much about this issue) made a patch and uploaded it to Nexus:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/114476?tab=description&jump_to_comment=144995199

The only catch is that you have to reinstall the patch (i recommend manually as with MO2 it didn't worked for me) everytime that you run Nemesis as that replaces the animationdatasinglefile.txt

I hope this can help to anyone that get's this issue!
