Feature: make DeskPad UX like Parallels #6
Comments
This app is a wonderful concept, will work great on my ultrawide monitor when I need to be able to share my display on a zoom call without it being at an insane aspect ratio. For the above list of things, @lukepighetti do you have experience building applications to have that kind of behavior? I'm not very familiar with building Mac Apps like this, but am compelled enough by those features you wrote to explore what it would take to make it work that way. |
This request is partially addressed in #16. The lacking feature is to detect if the cursor is on the edge of the virtual cursor. In that case, we want to move the cursor to the display where the visible window is shown in the position corresponding to the edge of the window. While the pull request is accepted, you can test the features in https://github.com/EarlOrlando/DeskPad/tree/earl/new_features. |
Hey there! Just wanted to express how much I love this app. It's been a game-changer for my setup, especially when sharing my screen on MS Teams. Without it, my widescreen would feel underutilized. DeskPad really simplifies the process. I'm excited about the potential for additional features. Implementing some of the suggestions from other users would definitely enhance usability and productivity. One feature I'd particularly like, echoing @lukepighetti 's suggestion, is having the mouse automatically transition out of the virtual display when reaching the edge. Alternatively, having a shortcut in DeskPad to move the mouse out of the virtual display would also do the trick. My 2 cent productivity tip: try using DeskPad alongside RectangleApp or a similar tool. You can set up shortcuts to quickly move windows between displays, further streamlining your workflow. Thanks so much for your great work! |
Just a word: for those of us with multiple displays, these functions do not feel as though they would offer value. Please keep these optional if considered. |
It would be nice if we could find a way to make DeskPad act less like a video output and more like an interactive VM. That might include:
