Feature request ideas!

Possible future features that could improve or add functionality to the elastix-napari plugin. Feel free share your opinion or any other feature ideas below!

• Visualize fixed and moving point sets. Requires a point reader here: https://github.com/InsightSoftwareConsortium/napari-itk-io and itk to napari point conversion here https://github.com/InsightSoftwareConsortium/itk-napari-conversion
• Multithreading support (https://napari.org/0.4.15/guides/threading.html) so that the widgets are responsive during registration/transformation
• Investigate the status of the checkerboard plugin https://github.com/SuperElastix/napari-checkerboard
• Write registration result as an ITK transform (maybe backend work in elastix required, https://github.com/SuperElastix/elastix)
• Allow elastix widget to communicate the in-memory registration result parameters to transformix widget without file I/O
• Use user speficied napari point sets to be used as landmarks for the registration
• Visualize transforms (e.g. deformations in the bspline grid)
• Improve appearance of the widgets + add elastix icon
• Example/video/demo of real data application
• Elastix masks should accept (only/also) napari labels as input

If anyone interested to take up any of the tasks, pull requests are of course welcome :)
