On a fresh install I get:

 gulp-ruby-sass: stderr: OptionParser::InvalidOption: invalid option: --output-style
  Use --trace for backtrace.

Change line 25 in gulp/styles.js from outputStyle: 'expanded', to style: 'expanded',
