GTA SA DE camera movement issue #1667
Comments
It's for when the mouse cursor goes outside the game window and it stops mouse movement completely. Happens if you move the mouse very fast. For SA I'm looking into replacing FollowPed camera with AimWeapon camera, which works much better in my opinion, but also has a couple of minor issues. You can try the test build here: I did some improvements for car camera as well, but they are not in this build yet, hopefully will be released soon. |
Well I'll be damned. I understand what you did, because I also noticed that when you aim your gun the camera is much better than normal. At least this game is finally bearable for K+M users. Also, I appreciate the camera in vehicles not auto-centering finally. It's not fixed for the up/down cam movement in them though (which is not the most obnoxious deal. The auto-center was). Thanks! |
I just released an update with improved car camera and a centering delay option(only for SA atm). |
It behaves differently, yeah, but the camera is now jumpy when trying to move up/down (in a vehicle). Downloaded from here 692 KB Unless you fixing/changing the on-foot for now and I shouldn't be checking the vehicles yet? edit:// |
What do you mean jumpy? |
|
I don't have that :/ |
Just made sure again, and downloaded one more time the version you gave me here:
and yeah, the "jumpiness" is gone, it's just painfully slow. Don't mind me, I got a cracked version either way (not willing to buy till they fix the game properly still) |
Is this build any better? |
Still jumps :| |
And this? |
We are back to the painfully analog-stick emulation slow |
I have no idea, but try this build to at least pinpoint the cause: |
It's funny because it's seems like it's 95% there. The 5% would be a wanky camera movement from the AimWeapon perhaps or something? I'm assuming you are trying to force the other system game allows instead of the default one. I am not sure if you can notice that, but left/right movement in the car is struggling like a tiny bit. But I think it's the camera being f-d up by itself. It's not perfect, but it is totally playable night and day difference. |
Yeah, with that test build you won't have proper centering delay, and I have no idea why the camera breaks for you. |
Just tested the latest build artifact. The camera improvement really is massive here, nice work! I did also notice some minor camera stutters while driving cars. (Not sure if they're present while on foot, though.) |
Shouldn't be present on foot, camera stutters are due to centering delay implementation probably, the way to stop centering is kinda wacky right now. Just to confirm, did you see stutters only when moving mouse or when the camera was not auto centering? |
Check this build, either should be fixed, or at least much better. |
Honestly, the difference is night & day. But I literally thought yesterday of the same thing (like you said above) that it could be the native auto-centering feature fighting against what you doing to prevent it. Either way, the camera in DE overall is behaving totally different to what the OG had. It's like in SA-MP, where you can attach things to the bones of the character; the camera seems attached "to player" in DE not like in OG where you move it freely. Notice how in DE walking in circles with CJ makes the camera jump by itself (it's not from your mod). It behaves strangely by nature at this point. It could be the reason also that we are noticing some weird things while moving the camera. Now, about the version you asked me to try above: Other than that, it's near perfect enough to play the damn game finally. |
I saw stutters while driving a car at high speeds (not sure if the speed is a factor), and moving the mouse up and down. Just tested the latest build real quick and I couldn't make it happen again, although I did notice some instances where the camera just auto centered mid-mouse movement, also while driving a car. Still, this is already a massive improvement. Do you also plan to port these improvements to the other two games? Edit: Seems auto-centerering is happening really "fast" now as well, almost as if the camera is snapping into place instead of slowling moving towards its target position. Not sure if that's intended. Edit2: Can confirm the small stutters while driving and moving the mouse are still present, seems easy to notice while driving a cop bike through the mountains. It is like the camera is still "fighting" you a little bit. |
Hi,
mind elaborating what's that fix?
I was hoping it's gonna fix the camera movement up/down (auto centering overall) analog stick emulation. I am obviously using Keyboard + Mouse and it's still unbearable on PC for this certain issue.
