The Notch of Lydia Schaffen story (see #963) uses a pun as a punch line:

  • the inner skin of a chestnut is 보늬 (read as "Bo-Nee")
  • the notch is 오늬 (read as "O-Nee")

Puns are generally not translatable. The question is, how do we handle those?
A common approach is either adding a note, or simply adding the reading in brackets, like this:
"It's the inner skin of a chestnut (Bo-Nee)." "No, it's the notch (O-Nee) of my arrow."

Feedback appreciated.

Put them in as accurately as you can and leave a note? Maybe we need a puns section in the wiki

I gave it a try in the PR linked in the first comment.

I'd also like to bring up that there is what seems to be a poem in QUEST.tsv Line 1954, 2006, 2222 and a few other lines. How will we be handling those?

Maybe we need a section where native Koreans can go to find puns/poems to translate. Perhaps IMC could do those themselves if they can find someone with good English at home.

I don't think poems are a big problem, just translate and edit them as usual. Puns, however... most of them are not translatable, and replacing them with rough equivalents doesn't even work.

As for detecting puns/poems, that should happen while translating. @SHUcream00 is going through the files afaik, so if there are any we missed, they will be found.
