Hello,
As you might have noticed, this project is dead. A significantly larger project can be found at https://github.com/CanalTP/navitia

To answer your question: there simply isn’t a best solution. It will depend from person to person, even for a same person depending on the luggage, the mood, the rain, they will not always take the same route between two points.

The way to handle that, is to suggest different routes. Have a look at larger apps like Google Maps or CityMapper; they will many times suggest multiple choices.

There might be a need to filter too similar solutions, or that are ridiculous. But there is no definite answer how to do it.

It hope this answers your question
