I'm a recent "defector" from Atom to VSCode.
In Atom the sorting extension I used had entries in the Edit menu.
It's be great to have the same thing here... I never use keyboard shortcuts and the command palette takes too long... and I do a lot of line sorting... entries in the edit or selection menu for "Sort Asc" and "sort Desc" would make my day.

Extensions cannot contribute to the Edit menu unfortunately. I suggest getting more used to the command palette as it's really the key to unlocking VS Code's potential. Learning keyboard shortcuts is also a great investment as it can cut your command tasks from fishing through the menu/command palette to a couple of keystrokes.
Also there is an entry in the context menu for sorting asc:
I'll keep this open to add desc there as well. It would also be nice to improve the context menu names to Sort Lines Ascending and Sort Lines Descending to match others.
