Nuclear Reactors are a great means for producing large amounts of ElectricCharge over long times. To help with base building, MKS has added four new reactors, differing in size and efficiency.

A reactor's efficiency (Eff(reactor)) is expressed as the ratio of the EnrichedUranium going in to the ElectricCharge produced.

Eff(reactor) = ElectricCharge / EnrichedUranium

Nuclear Reactors take 3 units of EnrichedUranium and produce large amounts of ElectricCharge while also producing 2 units DepletedFuel and 1 Unit XenonGas as byproduct.

xEnrichedUranium = Eff(reactor)*x ElectricCharge + 2/3 x DepletedFuel + 1/3 x XenonGas

Using these reactors then becomes a matter of choosing how much ElectricCharge your ship needs at peak operation, and choosing the appropriate reactor. You'll need to add the appropriate stock radiators to manage the heat. If necessary, more fuel can be packed from base, or mined on site. Engineers on EVA can service the reactors to load more fuel and offload the waste.

Heat

The heat produced by reactors must be managed. Reactors need to achieve a minumum temperature before they can produce any ElectricCharge, but must be maintained below a maximum temperature or they'll shut down.

Storage

The reactors also have storage for the EnrichedUranium and DepletedFuel, but not the XenonGas, though you can add storage and capture it if you use electric propulsion engines.
