DERP Escape Pod aerodynamic drag

I think you saw this yourself in a Twitch stream I watched?
The escape pod falls through Kerbin's atmosphere too slowly. I think it is so both with and without the parachute deployed.
I always use the service ring but I think you were using just the pod and it was the same.
