SteamOS has drivers for different headsets out of the box. You usually don't need to do anything special other than plugging it in, and then change you sound settings in SteamOS Big Picture Mode.

Notes

1. Volume buttons will not work, not because it is not supported by the OS as it usually work in desktop mode but because is it not supported by BGM. Volume is set to 100% by default.
