Each year our process for building the component projects in JBoss Tools evolves and improves, so each year our process documentation is by necessity also evolving.
That said, the basic workflow can be defined as follows:

For JBoss Tools, first we build all the component builds (base, server, …, javaee, central, … ) in their inter-dependency requirement order. Then, we build the aggregate update sites.

For Red Hat JBoss Developer Studio, after the above steps are complete, we build the JBoss Developer Studio update site, then the installers.
Builds also depend on their respective target platforms being built and up to date with the latest upstream dependencies from Eclipse and other third-party vendors.
