Fails after connecting to Mastodon - "impossible error" unknownMastodonInstance

The app fails with an "Impossible error" after I authorize Mastodon:

I think this happens when webfinger and actual instance does not have the same address. (e.g. my instance is at toot.funami.tech but the webfinger is funami.tech. On the "find instance" page my instance is listed as funami.tech and when I try to go next it errors out with mastodonAppCreationError. When I use toot.funami.tech I can authorize but after that I get unknownMastodonInstance.)
