What problem does this address?

In #40177 , we added quite a bit of explanatory text to the Content Block in the template editor, to try to help improve clarity around where someone is working (post/page vs site editor).

However, some users may prefer something less text-heavy and more visual. For example, one WordPress.com user mentioned it messes with their idea of how the page looks and would like a way to hide the content block on the editor, or reduce it's visual impact overall. (Automattic/wp-calypso#81935)

What is your proposed solution?

Add an Editor Preference toggle, or perhaps add that as part of "Distraction Free" editing, that displays visual placeholders instead of text/explanatory placeholders, and then display a very simple grey'ed out box.

I'm not sure about this one. It doesn't strike me as something worth adding an option for, especially when the feedback has only come from a single user. Probably something to monitor to see if it comes up more.

I agree - especially with other work around the how the Content block works, this one will likely shake out. Thanks for taking a look!

I'm going to close this out as "not planned" but wanted to direct folks to this issue as it relates to the placeholder experience: #58136
