I found recently an userscript GmailTex which use MathJax to render latex math in pure html+css (in simple math mode) without needing to connect with external servers. I think this approach could be nice alternative to Google Charts (but I don't know if it only support sending between Gmail accounts)

This is cool, but... it requires (I think) both the sender and receiver to have the extension installed. Markdown Here just doesn't work like that at all -- everything is rendered before sending, no action is taken when viewing email, and the sent email looks the same to everyone.
