Short discussions just don't work I confirmed this on play.rivescript.com as well with this example from the rivescript docs:

+ knock knock
- Who's there?

+ *
% who is there
- <star> who?

+ *
% * who
- LOL! <star>! That's funny!

In reality I get:

by short discussions do you mean the % who is there syntax?
or the replacement that is happening from Who's there? => who is there ?
I'm not sure if the deployed version has those replacements all setup, you could try with a script that doesn't rely on that feature.

Yeah the RiveScript Playground doesn't come with any default substitutions, those need to be provided by the user.

Add:

! sub who's = who is

Without this, the bot's last reply for the %Previous would be "whos there" because by default, only punctuation is removed from the bot's reply. (The same substitutions that apply to user messages also apply to the bot's responses for the purposes of the %Previous command).
