We mean a URL since Homarr requires the protocol to be specified (eg. http or https). IP may not work depending on your network configuration. Same applies to hostname when the DNS is not reachable (eg. selfhosted DNS). |

When I first used Homarr I was confused with the naming for Internal Address.
In the app it's called "Internal address" and mentions it's an IP-address, but errors when you put in an IP address:
In the documentation (https://homarr.dev/docs/dashboards/apps/#general) it's called both "internal address" and "internal IP address" which seems correct.
And in the documentation glossary (https://homarr.dev/docs/getting-started/glossary/) it's called "Internal URL" and mentions "often an IP address".
So is it IPv4 address or a URL? They very different as one has a protocol (HTTP) included and possibly a port.
