This period saw our community focusing on recognizing contributors and fostering connections among Darker's growing community. We made significant strides in acknowledging the valuable contributions of our members and planning virtual meetups to strengthen our collaborative spirit.
A major highlight was the addition of a contributors table to our README (#89). This update, meticulously implemented by @akaihola, showcases the diverse talents and efforts of our community members. The table not only lists contributors but also highlights their specific contributions using badges, providing a visual representation of our collective efforts. This addition reflects our appreciation for everyone who has helped shape Darker.
We also continued our efforts to organize virtual meetups for Darker contributors (#60). @akaihola proposed two meeting times to accommodate different time zones, demonstrating our commitment to inclusivity. The community showed enthusiasm for these gatherings, with several members expressing interest and sharing their availability. These meetups aim to provide a platform for contributors to connect, share ideas, and discuss Darker's development in a more personal setting.
In terms of project development, we addressed an issue regarding the handling of untracked files (#85). This discussion highlighted the need for Darker to handle new, untracked files more gracefully, especially in legacy codebases. Our project lead, @akaihola, provided insights into the underlying Git operations and suggested potential improvements to suppress unnecessary error messages, showcasing our ongoing efforts to enhance Darker's usability across various scenarios.
