Hi there,

thank you for the update last night but similar to #209 i, still, have the same problem. When i activate the friends plugin, "all articles" (not sure about the english wording, i've setup my installation to german) will not load and ends in an HTTP 504 - Bad Gateway Timeout error.

Ouch, sorry about that. Do you maybe have a list of other plugins and do you know if it happens with no other plugins enabled? With the https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ plugin you get a "troubleshoot mode" which allows to temporarily (and just for you) only activate a single plugin.

Probably because it's inactive. You would first activate it, then click Troubleshoot:

When things work fine with just it active then it's a plugin "mis-interaction", you can then try activating other plugins one by one to find out which one it is. Thanks for your help!

okay, activated the plugin, entered the trouble modus and enabled the friends plugin. the only unsual error in error.log i see is:

Ok this is helpful! That this page already times out is a sign that it's the friends plugin not working well with one of your posts, and not interfering with other plugins. I'll try to find out what property of a post could cause this. Is there anything potentially unusual about any of your posts?

AFAIK not. Just articles and pages but since the pages site loads without errors, i would suspect an error one of my articles then?

Will continue to test the plugins and then disable friends to have a look at the articles

I'm done with the plugins. Still the same, article page shows the number of articles but not the articles itself.

Some articles here have embedded yt videos (https://theragnarbay.org/zeitraffer-mit-einem-raspberry-pi-und-der-hq-camera/) or svg (https://theragnarbay.org/beruehmte-atari-bilder/)

i think i've got it! i had an article without a header, it was a reblog from my mastodon account, and one article was saved as draft. will test both again

Indeed, that's also what I suspected. It's probably that a post-format is used with a theme that doesn't support post formats. I still need to find out how this can crash PHP.

Alright, I have a fix. Thanks for helping debugging! Did you just trash the "offending" post or already delete it? i.e. could you untrash it and test my fix?

These are all the same errors. Could be this bug in WordPress core: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/57271

I've got a fix for the missing reblog button here: #261. The reblog also happens if you boost the post via a Mastodon app (in case you use https://github.com/akirk/enable-mastodon-apps), there is a setting to disable this: see #168.
