Backend:

  • Create a new message type in the chat model for broadcast
  • Develop a new endpoint for sending broadcast messages from extension officers, implement a queue to handle message delivery (via Twilio) in the background to avoid blocking operations.
  • Broadcast messages are prefixed with "[Broadcast]" so that clients understand this is broadcast.

Frontend:

  • In the extension officer’s dashboard, add a "Send Broadcast" button that opens a message composition interface.
  • On the chat page, differentiate the color between broadcast messages and regular messages.
