writing commit messages in connected sessions

When I start editing a commit message in a connected session, the commit message gets opened in the connected client and I get an error that the commit was aborted.

I know I could set git config --global core.editor kak but maybe there is a way to make this work with a connected client?

As an alternative, you can use kakoune's own git commands.
