Idea from https://social.alt-text.org/@StrwbrryJen@toot.site/110778488371917527

I wonder if something even more specific would be useful: Something like "if you hold shift and place the mouse over a piece of text, that text gets expanded"
You could even have it expand into a full-screen dialog at a configured font size as well.
Either way, Shift+arrow keys could change the zoom without having to go tweak things in a config menu.
Examine if shift + mousewheel would work as well

is this replicating the browser zoom (ctrl +/-)?

The idea was to refine it, and only amplify the size of the text in the hovered element. The idea being that so often zooming the full page leads to it becoming unusable as other elements crowd things out as well.

Something like this, thrown together:

https://github.com/alt-text-org/my.alt-text.org/assets/225933/2ee8bafe-137f-4e1c-8453-273feda22501
Description: Video of the my.alt-text.org site. The user places a cursor over alt text in their archive, then moves the mouse between elements, increasing and decreasing the font size of just the hovered element
