md-autocomplete does not respect available viewport space

In the following diagrams the outermost grey box represents the viewport.

Current behaviour

Suggestions popup always appears below the input field.

Expected behaviour

If I have an md-autocomplete at (or near) the bottom of a window the suggestions popup should open above the autocomplete if it's too tall to fit under the input without clashing with the edge of the window, similar to how native select elements work.
