  • Allow for a dynamic rendering of the latex using codecogs, however with a notice mentioning the use of internet for the rendering
  • Complete the tex -> png approach

That's good one but Supermemo has SMA for importing latex from pdf. However, it doesn't work for anki imported decks.

I have not integrated the latex rendering yet but the logic is completely built for it, SMA I think encodes the Latex from the api into base64 and embeds them into the SM element.
