This seems like an error with npm itself. Please update your npm version and see if that works?

i did sudo apt upgrade npm and sudo npm install and it prints following error:

in the debug log it says 'this is an error of npm itself' but currently the npm repository is archived so i cannot report there. what configuration (OS, npm version, etc.) did you use to make it work?
