With a series of indices (xxxx_2010, xxxx_2011, xxxx_2012, etc), kibana can use a pattern "xxxx_*"
It does not appear that mirage does this. So, indices of "" or "xxxx_" fail with a message about failure in theauthentication, appname, etc

Sounds like "No index/appname can be selected #41 ... and I assume the answer is "no" since it was closed
